Dr. Jnanesh Thacker is the first surgeon to operate on the first Indian patient in India who got a Lung Transplanted in India, in Mumbai in 2012. He was also the first in India to do a successful minimally invasive Lung Transplantation in 2013. He is also the first surgeon to operate for a successful Lung Transplantation (Double) in a teaching Hospital in India. . Dr. Thacker has over 34 years of medical experience and over 300 Transplants to his credit.
He has a Bachelors in Medicine and Surgery from Grant Medical College, Mumbai, he also did his Masters in General Surgery from Tata Memorial Hospital with a specialisation in Cardio-thoracic surgery from Seth. Furthermore, his Fellowship in Heart and Lung Transplantations was completed at Thomas Starzl Institute of Cardiopulmonary Transplantations which is a part of the University of Pittsburgh, also known as the ‘Mecca of Transplantations’.
